"Fifteen Minutes of Fame"

The expression was coined from Andy Warhol, who said that "In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes", which appeared in the program for a 1968 exhibition of his work at the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Sweden. The phenomenon is often used in reference to figures in the entertainment industry or other areas of popular culture, such as reality TV and YouTube. As things have turned out the rise of celebrity culture and reality television since then has shown Warhol to be quite prophetic.
