Macy's sent its 91st Thanksgiving Day Parade down the streets of Manhattan today, a spectacle more than 50 million people tuned into watch. The parade debuted in 1924 as a way to celebrate the expansion of Macy’s flagship Manhattan store. The world's most well-known beagle has appeared in the Macy's parades a record 39 times. Snoopy has been a regular staple character in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade since 1968. So far, he has also had more unique variants of balloons than any other character, with eight in total.
